And they are excellent.

Earlier, I had the EMotiva T1+ and I was very happy with them.

My current setup was: Roon → Sotm SMS-200 Neo → Fiio K11 R2R → Parasound ZPre3 → EMotiva BaseX A2 → EMotiva T1+ and Bowers & Wilkins ASW 608 subwoofer. I was very happy with this setup.

Then one day, my brother told me he wanted to upgrade his Polk TSX 440 speakers. We went for an audition at AV Core Pune. After listening to 2–3 speakers, we liked the Sonus Faber Lumina 5. They were just amazing—so clean, deep, and every beat was perfectly balanced. We did some negotiation and thought of trying a few more auditions.

We then went to AV Excellence and auditioned a few speakers in the same price range. But the Sonus Faber was so perfect that we didn’t like any of the others. We told them we were buying the Sonus Faber from another dealer, and then they offered us an audition of the Sonus Faber Venere Signature. We immediately liked them and brought them home.

When I came back home and listened to my setup, I immediately realized my speakers were not that great. They are still very good (EMotiva T1+), but after listening to the Sonus Faber Lumina 5, I kept feeling I needed those speakers. So finally, I called the dealer and bought them.

They are so well balanced that I even disconnected my subwoofer. You can play anything—from the latest Bollywood hits to Kishore/Lata/Rafi classics to my son’s hard metal—and they handle everything perfectly and with balance.

One correction: these speakers do not have much low end—the bass is very poor, though the highs and mids are great. Actually, my son had increased the bass from the preamp, and I thought it was because of my room acoustics that the bass felt heavy.
