I have to set up my HT within a budget of 40K (I started with 20K an stretched till here):

Speaker Set: Almost decided on jamo s 406 hcs 1 5 speaker set.
S 406 HCS 1 Home Cinema Systems - Description

Sub: Jamo Sub 200. Active sub 200 W.
SUB 200 Subwoofer - Description

Speaker + Sub package costing 26K @ Excite Bangalore.
1) Is it a steal deal? Where in Bangalore should I look for good deals on speakers?
2) What will be the price if I buy speaker set and sub separately? If there is not much difference I can take a better receiver now and the sub later
3) Is there any other better 5.1 speaker set + sub available at this price (or less)?

Hi,

Even i am looking at something around 40-45K for 5.1 setup.
I happened to audition Pioneer RS7 (5.1 speaker package) + Pioneer VSX 817 at Sigma mall. Now the showroom is shifted to Gem Plaza, Infantry road.
Trust me you will like it if you give it a chance.

I found it better the onkyo or Jamo or profx packages offered at the same prize range.
I have made up my mind to go for it, waiting for my sal :yahoo:

Pioneer RS7 (5.1 speaker package) + Pioneer VSX 817 (AVR)
27K+14K = 41K

RS7 Specification

I had created a separate thread for the same but i guess not many people have had a chance to audition them.
Pioneer is new in indian market with its home audio products, hence their price range is very competitive.

@saurabh81 - Cannot say since I've not heard anything in that budget except for HTIBs from Onkyo and Yamaha.

I believe the Yamaha HTIB does make sense since it comes with FS for the fronts. Onkyo 5100/5105 too are pretty decent.

Only problem is these are all 5.1 packages only limited to DTS and DD i.e. no HD Audio in them which is the real deal in comparison.

I checked this Jamo 5.1 speaker + Sherwood AVR for 40K @ Excite kormangla...

moserw, i know very less choice is available at the price range which is just above HTIBs...

I started my quest with Onkyo 3200 thn checked 5105 and later Yamaha 195
But when i listened to speakes in wooden boxes i can't find any thing better...

In HTIBs I found Yamaha the best, but there were no FS for front, which model you are talking about???

Yes, actually it's good deal in B'lore. Jamo S 406 HCS 5.1 Speaker package itself cost around 20k in Reliance TimeOut and Cinebells. And sub woofer cost around 13k there.

I checked this Jamo 5.1 speaker + Sherwood AVR for 40K @ Excite kormangla...

I had checked out the following
@Onkyo Showroom Sigma mall
1. TX SR506 (7.1 AVR) + SKF 4700 (5 ch package) + SL 107 (sub) = 42K
Was good for movies. Audio dint sound natural (or i can say not live).
2. Onkyo 5105 = ~27K
Was good value for money. Probaby we could replace the front speakers to make it sound good for music too.

@ProFX show room MG Road
1. Denon 1509 + ProFX Fusion 5.1 package = 40K
It sounds good. Could be an alternate option while compared to pioneer RS7.

2. Denon 1509 + Polk Audio package (not sure of the model) = 67K
Beyond budget for now.

My hunt continues. Will probably have a look at Marantz option and Denon DHT-390 over the weekend at Cenebel.

Let me know if we could club our purchase. Probably we can get a discount of some sort.

Don't remember the exact model, but it was on display at Croma and Reliance Digital. All components were from Yamaha including the speaker package (IIRC it was 7.1 and costing around 42K).

This is my personal observation... Don't get me wrong

The prices at ProFX show room are higher than others.
ProFX Fusion 5.1 package speakers not so good. Refrain from them, if possible.

TX SR506 (7.1 AVR) + SKF 4700 (5 ch package) + SL 107 (sub) = 42K
AVR is good but cant say same about speakers. I took audition of the same speakers at Sigma Mall. Not at all convincing. The same guy deals Jamo at competitive price. Talk to him.

TX SR506 + Jamo S 406 < 40k

Instead of going with Jamo/Onkyo 5.1 sets, get a decent pair of BSs (PSB B25/Wharfe 9.2/Usher 520/MA BR2 etc. which are around 20...25k) and then expand your setup to 5.1 later. You will regret spending money on these "not so" good speaker packages like Onkyo/Jamo.

I had a look at Cambridge Audio just now :yahoo:

CA Azur 540A + CA S70
19K + 15K = 34K + vat

It was my first look at a Integrated 2 ch setup. Eagles - Hotel California sounded awesome. But i guess i need more bass then the floor standers had to offer.

CA r good overall Movies+Music. For, 15K go for avant/wharfe rather than CA.

Pio seems too good to be real. Experts pl comment.

Hi Gurus,

How do you rate Onkyo 606 + Jamo S606 HCS 3 + Jamo SUB200 (5.1) package? Not so good?
Can you suggest better package (AVR + 5.1 with floor standers) for 75k?
Usage : 60% Music (Hindi, English, Regional, Classical); 20% English Movies ; 10% Hindi & Regional Movies.

Thanks

Ya Jamo S 406 is HCS 5 speaker set is 18790/- in Reliance, Ezone and Jamo Sub 200 is 14K. But i heard better subs are available for 14 K than Jamo Sub 200?

Well i saw all HTIBs but did not liked them after listening to wodden speakers...

Till now i found Denon 1509 the best balance for Movie and Music. What is the min price u found for it? it's 21K @ Reliance

Even I have to check out Marantz, heard its great for music and good for Movies...
Let me know if we could club our purchase. Probably we can get a discount of some sort.
This will be great, but first we need to finalize the setup...

Have u checked Jamo @ Exite?? do check it once and let me know how u rate it???

I can take that route also...
Initial setup: AVR + FS (with good Bass)
Budget: 40K

Final Setup: AVR+5.1 speakers
Budget: 60K

Please suggest some good configs till 60K

Audition Yamaha 663 + QA 5.1, this is well recommended may need to stretch your budget a bit... You could also look at Mission M34/35 for FS or Wharfedale 9.5 (FS) or 9.2 (BS).

Get the Wharfedale EVO 4.2 3-Way Standmount Speakers at a Special Offer Price.
