Thanks to the forum's inputs I set-up a good 5.1 HT system a couple of years back. Samsung 46" LCD, Onkyo 705, Oppo 981, Wharfedale 9.1, matching center, surrounds and sub. While this is brilliant for movies, I am now keen to get a good stereo set-up in place. Expectedly, the sound quality of stero music in the current set-up is very average
If my total budget for expansion was 25K, my questions to the audiophiles are as follows,

a) What are the additional components I need to buy? ( CDP, Amp, DAC, etc?)
b) which brands and suggested cost?
c) Can I make do with the existing speakers
d) If I have to buy another amplifier, how will I connect it to the speakers while the Onkyo AVR is allready connected

sorry about the basic questions, but would appreciate any help

First start with stereo amp .I haerd Oppo is good for music too.
If want to go for streamed music buy a good dac WITH usb and Optical/Co Axial inputs..

b) which brands and suggested cost?

Check forum..Norge around 8 to 12 K is there. You can explore used option too. In fact many vintage Japanese amps are available from 3 K onwards. Mostly 10-15 years old they still sound great and give good service.

c) Can I make do with the existing speakers

Think so ..in first phase as I said try just amp

d) If I have to buy another amplifier, how will I connect it to the speakers while the Onkyo AVR is allready connected

Assuming the onkyo 705 has pre outs, get a good used power amp and a entry level cd player. If the Cd player has volume control that would be great too.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
