Bulb burst - panny projector

Anm,

In Delhi there is a person who deals only with bulbs (you can goggle search).

If the seller agrees to give you a demo for 30 minutes then you can easily come to know how good is the quality. If the seller claims that quality is nearly equivalent to the original then it warrants a proper demo and if he does not agree for this demo then you can easily read between the lines that the bulb is not good so in such a case there will be no need to even take a demo.

Audiodoc,

It is a myth that lamp problem is a nightmare in projector therefore you should consider to strongly not hold up buying for at least such a reason.

If bulb less projector's are your choice then you should just go for it as they are already affordable keeping in mind to what projector prices were around 2 years ago.

The lamp problem is the projector nightmare that has prevented me from buying them. Fortunately bulb less projectors are available. Waiting for them to become affordable.

Anm/Ashish,

I think it is not a good idea to go for a new projector especially when it has not been used for even 300 hours and in-fact more importantly it was bought not over 6 months ago.

The new projector will cost over a lac of rupees while the new bulb will cost not over Rs.20,000/-, so a better case is to buy the bulb then going for a new projector.

About going for the latest trend 3D, this too i think does not advocate a new buy because in every 6 months or so some new technology surfaces, so does that mean one keeps buying a new model of projector etc sooner then later?

If you want a replacement then let me know as I can help you out with it. A replacement lamp with Bill and Warranty. But I don't think that it would be a wise idea to spend money on it as it would cost you more than 15K, instead look for a new projector as anyways you wanted to change it.

Anm,

It is not even 6 months where you were asking me and fellow member's that which is the correct distance one should watch a movie via projector therefore i had assumed that your projector is still pretty new.

anm,

did you receive your projector lamp?....

I found another ebay seller selling original "OSRAM" replacement lamps for most of the projector models... it's shipped from hong kong with Free Economy Int'l Shipping to india.

Thought this might be useful for ppl who can open the lamp casing and replace the bulb....

thanks to Ashish (lakozy) changing lamp was a snap. He is a thorough professionals who knows lot of equipment in and out.
Changing lamp took 5 mins - but unmounting, remouting and readjustment took few hours.
Some respite from watching movies in tiny 50" :D

Have you experienced any kind of flickering issue with this PJ with the old bulb and know with the new bulb hows it going ? any difference in PQ or its the same or much better . . .

I experienced flickering earlier with the original bulb. Once I started noticing it, it was driving me nuts. I even posted here.

But after I have started using online UPS, the flickering was GONE. Not there with the old lamp, not there with the new one.

PQ is same. Color balance may be a little different but that's just a guess. Will need to calibrate it some time.
