Hey, I created an account on this forum hoping to get some expert opinions on upgrading my car audio system. First off, the specs of the car I have are as follows:
2007 Pontiac G6 2.4cyl sedan
Measured the front speakers: 5-3/4" diameter

I'm going to purchase a new head unit and am leaning towards the Pioneer DEH-x8600BH after a little research. Looking into upgrading the speakers is a little bit more complicated. I plan just starting out with upgrading the front speakers for now and probably doing the rear and adding an amp/sub later on. I see the first choice is component vs full range and i'm leaning towards full range, as I would prefer the install to be somewhat straightforward and I don't think I need the component. I'm looking some speakers that have good bass as well as the high and mid range, and most of the speakers that I have read reviews on list the bass as one of the weaker points. My price range on the speakers is $200 or less, and I really only want to spend the $200 if it is worth it vs paying $100 for speakers. So, anybody have any suggestions or comments? Thanks in advance for any help!

Also, I listen to all types of music, including hip hop which is why I am concerned with the bass as well.

Hi

The Pioneer seems to be a good choice for Car Audio. In your part of the world besides known branded Car Speakers, there are other small brands available which give you good value and bang for the buck...fortunately you can audition the same and decide which would work best. The key is to carry your own kind of music as at the end of the day...you would be hearing that...larger the speaker cone, better the frequencies emitted and sound.

Take a look at Digital Design CSX 5.2, HAT Mirus range and PHD MF series. Gladen RS line is another option. No idea about US prices though.

You need to add a two channel amplifier for best results. And for hip hop, a sub is a must isn't it? You will need additional kit to integrate the steering mounted controls with the Pio. And, why not look for a used 80PRS??

How normally Car audio Head units are auditioned? That too in particular car?

Will you please suggest OP some good car audio shops in Pennsylvania?
