can i convert a LCD tv to a computer monitor?

can i actually use a LCD TV as my computer monitor screen?
Can someone explain to me in detail on how to do so?

Buy a VGA cable with both leads female. You would also need to buy a speaker cable if you want to connect your laptop sound to the LCD. The VGA cable should cost between Rs 100 - Rs 150..
The visualization sure looks great when you play winamp or windows media player.
