can you tell the difference between 8 bit and 16 bit audio?

Scored 8 out of 10.

It basically means what kind of space a file has for recording. As is dynamic range. The difference between the quietest sound and the loudest sound in the same file will be more in 16 bit than 8 bit. For practical purposes, we can never tell a difference after 16 bits. Generally because the noise floor of most listening environments is actually higher than the lowest sound even a 16 bit file can hold, let alone 24 bit.

I took this test on my laptop with headphones and failed miserably. 4/10 and 6/10 on 2 tries. Maybe my hearing is not as sharp as it used to be.
Tone and pitch tests on the site, I did fairly well.

Good I have not invested in sky-high priced components in my AV and stereo chain.

Cheers,
Raghu
