No CD player plays flac, especially not something within 50k. There are media streamer such as the marantz NA7004 which will play flac but then they do not have a cd drive.

I guess your best (only ? ) option is to buy a DAC + Separate DVD player.

Though I do not know if there is Any DVD player that will read FLAC audio files off a Recordable Disc...

That would leave only a Computer with a disc drive...

Its alright if the cd player cannot play flac on a cd...as long as it plays it through usb pen drive or a phone or a media player

You will find that a DAC + BDP will be a much better combination. Not only it is cheaper, it will be better and versatile. You may consider the Cambridge audio DACmagic plus for 35k and any BDP worth 8~10k.

I use OPPO BDP95 for playing flac files from usb as well as NAS. Eventhough you don't use OPPO for video it is still worth considering for audio purpose especially BDP 105 which has DAC functionality. The analogue section (stereo) of OPPO BDP95 is one of the best and BDP105 should be similar if not better. Consider Oppo BDP105.

Yea I did consider the oppo 105...but picture this....right now my need is 2 channel stereo music.i buy the oppo 105, using only its sound poweress..maybe over the course of year or two I buy the rest of the speakers to complete my 7.1 home theater to watch blurays...oppo will come with 305 with greatest in audio video as the trend seems to be...so i prefer buying the latest oppo for when im gonna use all it has to offer..but a cd player normally dosent get obsolete atlest for 2-3 years may be more... Any sense in what im saying or have I lost it??

I do the same. Convert all my FLACs to M4A/ALAC using the free dbPowerAmp then loading to iPod which is connected to Marantz CD 6004 via USB...works well. Though the iPod DAC is not excellent, but OK...I wish to upgrade to the Wadia iTransport to extract the digital stream from iPod and feeding to a good DAC.

My way of selecting a product is entirely different. For example my requirement would be like
* Good transport (mechanical)
* Exceptional DAC functionality
* Ability to play codecs like FLAC
* Good review by users / reviewers
* Of course price
* Manufacturer reputation
I really won't be worried if it offers more.

In this case do you have an alternative which is better than OPPO in that price range. If yes go for it if not consider oppo. In case of CD player also if you buy one now which meets all your requirement, there will be an upgrade sooner or later, so no point in waiting for a perfect future proof player.

CA 851C qualify all your requirement except one.
