I am shifting location and I was using Airtel HD DVR. Any suggestions as to how to affect a change in the location? Do I need to inform the service provider?

From operation point of view, I think it should not matter. The Satellite doesn't know where you are in India. But you need a correct address eventually in your account details. But that I think isn't a problem. I know someone who moved and had the address changed much later ( when they had some reception problems unrelated to the move and required service ). If you pay via the Net it still doesn't matter much !

The service provider would do a reinstallation for a nominal fee. It is 400 for Tatasky. It used to be 1000 a few years ago when I first brought Tatasky which the dealer didn't reveal during installation though I mentioned to him that I would beshifting shortly. I was livid when they demanded 1000 and did the installation myself. But when there was some service issue, they wanted me to pay 1000 for changing the address and then additional visit charges. I threw the box and brought Sun Direct who are even worse. In fact they have pathetic customer service. When I bought the Plasma, based on user feedback, went back to Tatasky. As an annual premium subscriber, my relocation to Kerala was free but was charged for additional cable and accessories used.

Yes, It is advisable to inform the service provider and get it re-installed at the new location from them only - otherwise as said earlier it may have service issues. In DTH, I believe TataSky is the best.

Yes, you should inform the cust care. You would anyway need someone to help you with the connection at your new place. If you are moving to a large apt complex they usually have local technical staff to readily do that for you.

Never knew Tata sky relocation was free. I have away my hd box to one of my friend who hardly use a tv:(

Called up Videocon D2h today for deinstallation as well as reinstallation to a new location and they told me to pay up Rs 800 in cash to the engineer :(

Rumor has it that you have to inform Airtel even if you move furniture around the house and the location of the TV ....:ohyeah:
