That's not available in Amazon UK. now my options are narrowed down to U1 or Shield.

Thanks.. do you think H8 specs are better or at par with Minix U1?
Actually I am captain in Merchant navy by profession and my ship will visit UK next month. I am writing to this forum from high seas. If you think Himedia is better than Minix U1 then I will have to wait until ship goes to China next time..:sad:.or until I get back home in India.

I am pretty sure you can get H8 from UK local store as well. As far as better is concerned its not about better or worse, its about best for you, and as far as I know per your requirements H8 will serve all your purpose. Just trying to save some bucks for you here thats all .... and its future proof as well with 4K, H.265 and all. If You absolutely want the gadget in this visit to UK and H8 is not available there, I would say you can then go for U1. Personally I dont like U1 to be very frank .....

In one of the posts you have placed U1 at No.3 after Q10 Pro and Shield. There is no mention of H8. See budget is of course a concern but I do not want to settle for something which I regret later thinking if I had paid few dollars more I would have got better deal than this. I don't want to go for high end like Q 10 pro or shield but somewhere close to it.
I checked one of links that you sent and found that Futeko are the official distributor for Himedia in UK and Europe. I noticed Q5 Pro is almost similar to Q10 pro minus 3.5"HDD bay and the price is also within my reach. What do you say about Q5 Pro?
I have never ordered from Futeko. I hope they are professionals like Amazon and deliver in time.

The reason I do not like U1 is not coz of its tech specs, on paper U1 is one of the top of the line product, and hence I placed it on top 3 or 4. But I couldnt see U1 reviews as good as Q5 or 10 maybe, plus few things were not as good as one might expect, not a huge community support as I might like to have, hence my so called less inclination towards the same.
Now coming to Q5, yes you can go with that, but mind you again there is nothing that Q5 can do for you that H8 cant ....

I will go either with Himedia Q5 or Minix U1. But there is hardly any review of Q5 in Amazon UK. Whereas U1 is flooded with good reviews and 5 stars. I do not understand why Q5 is not sold so much by Amazon UK if compared with Ali express. Himedia gets very good reviews in Ali express.
