Chord Silver Screen Termination Suggestions

I bought the Silver Screen speaker cable but still haven't used it since I want to terminate them with some good banana plugs.

I already have those 'fake' nakamichi banana plugs which I want to make use of. The plan is to get some shrink tubing and then fix everything.

The trouble is where to procure the shrink tubing (and of what size).

Also people who already have this cable, how are you guys doing it ?

I also heard the SS with and without termination and the one with termination has better slam punch and air. But that one may have been factory terminated.

Go to the local electronics gully around Gurgaon after measuring the diameter of the cable.

If you need DIY ultra thin and narrow shrink wrapping I would suggest Kohinoor

You should try some of the better electronic shops in your city. I'm sure some of them will have it in the size you need.

I trawled quite a few shops in my city last week and found one that carried heat shrink. Unfortunately they didn't have it in the sizes I wanted. They said it might be in stock in a month

The hurdle of minimum length in each size will need to be dealt with when the sizes I do want are in stock.

None of the Indian websites seem to carry heatshrink. The ebay links are all GEB based and rates are in the thousands

On a serious note, do you guys know of any local store from where I can get the shrink tubing for cheap ?

Hi Sushant,

Why dont you just put the bare ends of the cable directly into your equipment?
I dont think i would myself use lower grade/ fake plugs for good speaker cables.

This thread is very old i think now you have must have found shrink tubing. Im also planning to buy Chord Rumor 2 cable please share where did u get shrink tubing.

What is shrink tube? And can't we do without it by properly & carefully striping the wire and screw it neatly inside termination? Or is it absolutely necessity?

I believe shrink tubing is something nice to have, since in case of most bananas the entire connector is metal and live (unlike rca phono), and hence is easier to short by accidental touching. If you do, you may say bye bye to amp or speaker.

Peace of mind for a few bucks. Why not get it..

In Bangalore, heat shrink tube is available in S.P Road in two shops selling motor winding wires (opp to Amar Radio Corp) and also available in Vishal Electronics.

I bought some really colourful ones last Sat from Lamington Road. I can't recall the name of the shop but its on the lane that has Spectra Connectronics, a few shops ahead of Spectra staircase towards railway track.

For Pune people its Trio or Moti Near Pasodya Vithoba Mandir, Budhwar Peth.
Diameter 2mm-18mm pirces 7Rs-55Rs /meter. Color choice is limited to black only. Though its alright as never used different color.
