Hi friends,
I always wanted to have cinema sound and speakers at home. I searched a lot and was finally able to get this picture (attached) from JBL which I think looks very much like what I always wanted to have (and still want to).

I am not able to identify the speakers shown in the picture as any of the regular-selling JBLs, but they re close to 8320, 8340a or 8350 without the down firing tilt of 15 degrees.

Can these sound good if corrected with YPAO / Audyssey ? My room is 20 x 15 sqft and I would really like to have atleast a copy of these that will sound reasonably good. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

that seems quite impressive pic

ur room size is 300 sq feet so 1 powerfull subwoofer will be good enough, then get a good surround and center channels to complete ur setup

try to audition some god setup then you will get some idea

whts ur budget btw ?

and do you have any existing AV gear like AVR speakers etc ?

As of now, my speakers are no good. I use 4 Philips FW326 as fronts and Philips surround speakers for the sides. I have a handcrafted subwoofer box (33Hz, 65 litres) with a JBL CS1215.

Other AV gear include Sony Bravia 32EX400 (full HD), Yamaha RX-V571, Nvdia GT520, Philips DVD player.

I want to have a 7.1 surround like in the picture. BTW to have better look at the picture, goto http://www.indiajbl.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=hello
My budget is 20k for seven channels.

Cinema speakers are a poor choice for most home theaters. The reason is the volume of the room, and the ability to tune the soundfield with the Dolby Cinema Processor. Any speaker from the poorest quality to the very expensive is no better than the perception of the listener hearing it.

Most profesional JBL's and the like are really happy working in large volume rooms with powerful Mackie style amps. You can also with eight discrete channels in most cinemas adjust the sound to factor in the furnishings, the wall coverings, and even reflections from the tin roof common in many picture halls.

Many cinemas are much louder than people in a small room are comfortable with. There is also for most of us the desire to not annoy the neighbors with our taste in films.

Use your ears to audition equipment, and select what makes you purr. If your amplifier allows it, spend time setting the gains and delays for a pleasing soundfield where you sit, as well as tuning the equalization for what is your cup of tea.

Thank you Manoj. But these are damn costly man !!!! Is it possible to copy (not clone) them to reasonable quality with some other drivers ?
