They're monster sized (if you have the room and confident of convincing the rest of the folks at home about the appropriateness of having a baby elephant in the listening room),

ha ha. Will have to move out of the room to make space or folks at home will throw me out. Either way I loose. :lol:
I like big speakers. I wonder why over a period of time speaker sizes have decreased. Logistics ? material cost cutting ? Easy manufacturing ???

The Tannoy Golds will be a little expensive. The original Tannoy Gold 15 inchers in their Lancaster cabinets sell for upwards of $ 4000 depending on condition. The Little Gold Monitor is not in the same league as the original Golds.

On the other hand you can put together a AR 3a and a Sansui AU 717 for about Rs 30000. The sound is quite glorious. Better still, if you can get a Sansui 919, nothing like it

Yes first thing I checked was on ebay. Single driver sells for about Rs, 80,000/- But as I said buying is not on my mind right now. In near future ? Honestly I don't know.
But your recommendation will surely be on my mind.

Pioneer did make some fantastic HIFI products in the 70's,80's before moving into mid-fi and lo-fi equipment

i am having the big brother of ur spk
i am having pioneer cs 405 spk with me.
fantastic sound quality with "12" spk tweter , mid.
the woofer has a dual core coil, means one winded on top of other.
to give extra punch as said by a spk splcst.
mine is 40 watts normal power & 120 max handle of power.
nice spk dont give them up byeee.....

The Tannoys are not single driver speakers.They are coaxial speakers.With the HF unit mounted in the center of the driver.

The Altec Duplex,Jensen G610, Goodmans and Vitavox are superb speakers.

I have the Tannoy Monitor Golds,and Altec 605's. The Goodmans I had for a short while,and have heard the Jensen and Vitavox drivers in mono systems.

The Goodmans are not as expensive as the Tannoys/altecs,etc but are very good.

The one driver I have not heard in original condition (have seen/heard a few but all of them were reconed locally) but would love to own is the RCA LC1A.By all reports better than the Tannoys and Altecs.

Jensen, Goodmans, Vitavox Never heard about this brands. Though probably not the correct way to evaluate. but assuming the most youtube videos are from the same guy and provided he has used same audio format, the RCAs sound wonderful. Just checked ebay for above drivers and speakers. They are in huge demand

@Joshua : Thanks for the links. If I am right nowadays Tannoys are made in china. So wonder how well made they are compared to Vintage speakers ?

+1 to Prem, as said before the Tannoy Gold Single Drivers are for Rs. 80,000 a piece on ebay.

Compared to Vintage amps which needs caps etc. replacement, I wonder If Vintage Speakers are any good. I can only guess that prolonged repeated use cone looses its stiffness at joints. Moving coil will easily move cone. So Is it a good thing or bad thing ?

Yamaha NS10

A humble offering from Yamaha became Industry standard in Monitor Speakers. Article says though not having flat fq. response engineers found distortion levels pretty low. Was the paper pulp cone contributing to good performace of these speakers. Read on....

A friend who used to work in a recording studio raved about these speakers. He told me to just pick it up blindly if I can find one in good condition. The current MSP5 is OK but not a great monitor. And quite popular too with smaller studios as it is affordable.

JBL L100
Best selling Speakers from JBL. There successful 4310 monitor was revised and made for home use. With special attention to Grill cover and its colour . I think it was necessary as it was meant for home use but JBL guys did put up sophisticated ideas to make grill acoustically mmmm lets say 'sound' good.
As per link these were biggest selling Speaker of the decade

Tannoy Gold and Acoustic Research AR 3a are also great speakers. A Sansui AU 717 with AR 3a and a good source is a great set up

I vote for Tannoy MG's for their rare exotic Ticonal magnet
& Coaxially located tweeter :thumbsup:

I have seen Cosmic speakers but do not remember grill like this .. will you please post the images ? Also are you sure about fullrange driver and Al Nico magnets?

I knew you never heard or seen Cosmic Covox 5000 speakers
Pls check Mr.Anil kumar's Cosmic brochure that is the only proof i can give you rightnow God willing next month or so I'll be able to post my own Cosmic Covox 5000 speaker pics. Yes its a Fullrange & Yes its a Alnico magnet tweeter & YES Its the very same Speaker Grills which JBL-L100 got

One I immediately know is Pioneer HPM 100. Designed by JBL engineers. A Classic with good sensitivity and power handling. Gets sold for pretty good amount on ebay. Specs & Details : Pioneer HPM-100
