Collaborative two way bookshelf loudspeaker project

Crossover work is progressing. Here is a picture of the inductors.

Something amiss here ..

Well i decided to measure the resistance of the drivers
M13KH driver and got a resistance of 3.5ohms as opposed to 4 ohms
and T25 AN 06 tweeter I get a resistance of 3ohms. as opposed to 6

Little confused need some clarity on this

Attached the pics.
First one with the terminals touching each other 0 resistance. So meter seems fine. Measured a couple of other drivers to check consistency.
Second and third pics are of the Drivers

You are measuring DCR. DCR (DC resistance) will be about half nominal impedance.

When you measure a loudspeaker with a DMM the battery of the DMM sends a signal through the loudspeaker so you get DC readings since the battery is putting out DC.

TJ,

Can the friendly-neighbourhood-motor-winding-guy do a group deal winding.

Thanks.

Good idea Sunil, that wouldn't be a problem.

IMHO for a group buy We need to explore the option of fabricating the enclosures as well. It might be possible to make 3 stereo pairs of speakers from an 8x4 mdf sheet. Hope we could get the help of someone in this forum to do the fabrication part.

For the recent subwoofer group buy, we used a surface courier service that charges around 20 Rs per Kilogram, so people from other locations might also be able to join.

Will fabricate the Enclosures, If the numbers are decent

Thanks flash, that's good news.

Since Carnatic is already participating in this and AFAIK he has not yet got the enclosures done, will you be able to do a pilot build for him? That gives and opportunity for people to see what they are getting and you would possibly get the numbers you are looking at.

Anthony,
Absolutely.
Can get it done. I am building cabinets for sachu88 and Omishra for their Gr-research drivers.
And building a cabinets for myself using Peerless drivers.

If Carnatic can give me the dimensions of the cabinet, (The dimensions I have worked out for myself would be different from yours/his). Will get it done Cabinet + Driver cutouts + Finish + Grill and ship it over to Bangalore.

Getting all of these done at the same time gets a lot easier.

In terms of numbers - I don't really need volumes as long as a minimum 2-4 pairs at a time. Time management and getting panels cut + finishing the cabs gets a lot easier

I am building a TL project with the M13KH & T25AN tweeters. My design criterias for the box and cross-over though is entirely different from that yours though. Should be completed by end of April and will update you with photographs as it progress. Now everything is under design stage since past 3 weeks. Should be able to finalize the desing by this month end after simulation test.

Cheers,
Hari.

I have logged in after two years on this site and WOW!! Anthony million salutes to you man.. after asawaris' i never though someone would come up with this high effort you MTM are amazing.....i remeber Jetubhai used to sell those 6.5 inchers kevlars ....what happned to them??

tcpip's work was inspirational for me as well. I share his view that we need to first try making something worthwhile with the drivers available in India than importing stuff. These Peerless India drivers are as good as many imported budget drivers.

AFAIK Jeetubhai doesn't stock the 6.5 Kevlar anymore, at the moment they are available in 5.25 size only.

I am fortunate enough to have this 6.5" Kevlar and have made a two way TL with the T25AN tweeter. They sound awesome. Now current TL project is with the 5.25" Kevlar with T25AN tweeter.
