combination of wharfadale speakers and yamaha 671 receiver

Try these without the sub. 10.7 has good bass response.
Another thing to remember is that for good sound 10.7 have to be kept at some distance from the walls and well into the room. Can you place these in such a manner ?

They have a rear bass port and for well controlled and solid bass this is an essential with 10.7s

yes either this without sub or try 10 series bs with a dedicated sub.
more imp thing is trying with different avrs than yamaha...demo that before final buy.
