Thanks for posting the images. I wasn't able to see the event, but this gives me a clearer picture of how it was.

CWG Opening Ceremony - wonderfully well organized & executed. Watching it in High Definition via DD HD, on a 106" screen, further magnified the experience multifold.

Well I agree, the frequency and the length of the ads were extremely annoying.
on the other hand, i can understand why DD would go that way. it is a free channel and its nice if they can make money on the side.

either ways, the event was spectacular. kind of makes you realise how vast our culture was. The huuuge ground was completely occupied even though each dance form had only 15-20 dancers. We just have sooo much to show case ! Brilliant show! absolutely loved it!
GO INDIA! Come out and play!

Wow nice pics. Wish they release the uninterrupted video in HD for download. I missed most part of it.

Are you sure that ADs were put by DD? What if it was a decision taken my CW organizers?
I agree that ad breaks were extremely long and pop-up ads covered to much of screen space.

I watched in SD. In general how was the HD feed? From the pics it looked awesome.

I dont think anyone is talking of shunning profits but of also keeping national interests in mind too.

Unlike the companies you mention, DD is an arm of the ministry of I&B and not a public sector company so the comparison doesnt make sense as they have different objectives.

If profit was the primary motive of DD then they would never be broadcasting 'Krishi Darshan' kind of shows.

Do note that even public sector companies have an explicit agenda that profit is not their first priority. Thats the reason you have subsidized diesel as an example. Any profit minded enterprise would never have done it.

"Krishi Darshan" can actually be a learning experience, if you care to understand the challenges out farmers face :) I used to like watching it even as teenager.

Cheers

I didnt expect this much clarity from DD HD. Its really good. Appreciate it.. Got a chance yesterday to have a look at it.

Some snaps added..

Sanjay, Ajay - I have moved your discussions on the pros and cons of Public vs Private sector, national interests, etc to General Lounge. You can continue your discussions there. Please keep discussions in this thread relevant.

@fusioner

I took this picture using my Digi camera. ..Anyways it came as real..

If your TV tuner card have the RCA or Component input you should be able to get the screenshots.

Some TV tuner cards will have HDMI input there were we get the real picture of HD channel.
