How a Computer(PC) can be connected to AV Receiver. I want to get the 1080p video and dts audio from it. Is ther any way

If your pc has hdmi output then connect it to the avr. If you don't have one then buy a graphics card with hdmi.

Processor : AMD Athlon II X2 245 Processor 2.91GHZ
RAM: 1GB
OS : Windows 7 Ultimate
Board : ASUS

Update your memory to at least 2GB. 4GB recommended. You will need to add a graphics card with hdmi if you want to connect both audio and video to your avr. If you just want to connect audio only then a sound card with optical or co-axial output will do.

Will wd HD media player be a good replacement for the PC
In terms of convenience, definitely yes.

You just connect the media player to AVR, power it up and bingo - you are all ready to go.

The PC is a noisy appliance. There are at least two cooling fans - CPU and chasis. If there is a high-end gfx card, it may also have a fan. All these fans make noise which disturbs the ambience of watching the movie.

If have a file with dts and 1080p video shall i able to play that file using WD HD media player. I found that wd media player plays mkv file. I want to know whether it will give dts5.1 audio . In the wd media player specs its mentioned that dts2.0 out.

The dts 2.0 out refers to the stereo output which the player does by down mixing dts surround tracks. The player will pass through dts 5.1 output so that you will get surround effect using AVR. See the link WD TV Live

A media player is no good replacment to a decent HTPC. There can be downside of using a PC which is fan noise but that can be nullifies using good quality fans and fine tuning their usage (bios settings, volt mods). I have a PC which is barely audible even if you try to put yours ears against it.

Also what motherboard do you have exactly ?

If it is even 690G and above based, you wont even require any additional graphic card.

Let us know the exact model number of the motherboard.

He (kaptan) has a plain PC - not an HTPC.

Hi everybody, I'm thinking of getting my first AV receiver & I have some questions. Will this YAMAHA RXV373 connect to my pc so I can stream my MKV files and get HD sound, Do I need a receiver with networking like I have been told. And will this be a nice match with some Wharfedale Diamond 10.1's & a 10.CC CENTRE? Are there any better AVR in the 200 price range? & my pc has a ROG Maximus V Gene mobo with a gtx 680.

You can connect HDMI cable from PC to AVR and enjoy HD sound. Wireless streaming is not possible and infact not needed. If your PC has no hdmi out then get a basic graphics card like nVidia GT520 or AMD 6570. These cards support HD audio streaming and 3D blu-rays.
