Hi,

I would like to connect my floor standers simultaneously to both my AVR and stereo amp without having to physically wire them everytime.
Since there is risk of blowing the amp in such a case, is there any readymade switch locally available so that I can physically switch them each time depending upon the amp used.

Yes there is a Source Selection Switch.. CHek out this link.. It can be easily made. I suppose u r from Chennai and u can look for ready made ones at Burma bazar or Kaasi Chetty or Richie Street.

thanks spirovious, seems a very simple and efficient method, will save cost of a pair of speakers and space

Introducing a switch would degrade the signal. I would use banana plugs for ease of changing over from the amp terminals to the AVR terminals and vice versa.

Not sure why you are switching between the components.

If there is bi-amp option for your AVR and stereo amp then I would do that. That way atleast you will get more power to your speakers.

The most convenient way is to use a stereo amp which has an "HT Bypass" feature, wherein one of its inputs is a zero gain input. Most modern stereo amps have this.

Folks I had a question, my AS500 is arriving today. The MA M4's have the option for bi-amping and I was wondering if I can use the 2nd set of binding posts to run a pair of cables to the stereo amp as a stop gap arrangement till I can get a splitter made.

Idea is that I want to have both my AVR and Stereo amp connected to the speakers and simply avoid the chore of swapping/disconnecting cables every single time.

Something like

Floor Standers--> AVR --> 1 pair of speaker cables
Same floor standers(2 set of binding post) --> Stereo amp --> 2nd pair of speaker cables.

Would I risk frying something or rather would this work at all ? Thanks in advance.

How can u connect the source to AVR and AMP at the same time to send the signals to speaker terminals?

I dont think this will work. Depending on your connection, the speaker will play only HF or LF and not both when you use either the AVR or the Stereo.
Besides I am not sure if it could lead to one of the AMPs getting fried.
