friends
I willl be buying a da lite high gain 2.8 screen.
my question is whats the price range in india and dealers who can ship within india.I dont need electric one.manual pull down is okay for me.
even, if the 2.8 is avilable as map type..that will also do.

and

reason for high gain selection... is,
as i have a diy projector whose light output is very less than a commercial one so to make image brighter i decided to buy high gain screen.
now this is my concept.i may be wrong.please corrcet me if i am wrong choosing 2.8 gain.
i know the drawback that very low view angle.
i am ready to sacrifice that as viewer is only me(wife seldom:p).
also projector location should be exactly at screen mid point.
that is also ok.i have a dedicated table for that.

am i mising anything else as drawback of a very high gain screen...

thanks friends.
please feel free to suggest and educate me:).

a pic for reference..screen is normal wall chuna wala light bluish

Prosenjit,

Are you aware that Dalite Hi-Power is a retro-reflective screen? Meaning, it will have hi-gain only in the direction where the light came from. so, you will need to mount the projector where your head is. If its not, then you won't get any benefit of hi-gain. Just modify your setup that way.

Or - Save the money that money and instead buy a commercial projector. You will get better picture in every aspect, not just light. DIY projector is good experience and quite fun, but it is time to step up and move to real projection experience. :)

yes manoj i am aware of all of disadvantages of high power from da lite.
i am the only viewer(wife seldom)..so no angle of view problem
pj is table mounted exactly at horizontal and vertical mid point of screen without obstructing light path by viewers.
yes i will buy a commercial pj..later..saving funds..
but a screen is needed anyway...
thanks manoj for reply

Im getting mixed reviews about Da-Lite as they are very high quality and needs proper grading and calibration.

IM no expert to calibrate it for the best experience.

So, Im thinking to go Grandview fixed screen way.

Thing with Da-lite Hi-Power is that it is not color neutral. It will shift some colors to give the gain boost. People have been using projector calibration and CMS correction to get right results.

Im not that expert, so it would be really hard for a newbie like me to calibrate, I guess.

very bad idea..not only in this case..but also very generally.
you may buy grandview if you like it,
but buying in a hurry and in confused state..and thinking..okay lets get it for the time being and we will see later..
is a very vary bad idea.
people buy stuffs in this way and does not get impressed and upgrade...
its not a big deal if you want to spend later also.
but imho...
go once..go best(does not apply for speakers as we can buy them part by part):)

also you are thinking only about high power type(high gain)....so it may be any brand will apply same rule..color shift and re calibrate...
normal 1 gaijn screen will have no issue like this any make....
but you are targetting high gain..so an other make will not solve the problem..
