I am looking to buy a decent home audio solution.
I am looking for Cambridge speakers s30. I want to pair my IPOD Touch with it.
Does the Cambridge audio has a proper dock to control the IPOD?.
Anything which I need toi set it up with ?.

Thanks in advance.

which amp you are planning..you need that
If one can play tracks wirelessly through apple airport express ...I can provide a sansui amp with onboard dac ( NO USB) ,apple airport express , and digital optical canle connecting airport express and amp.

I don't have much idea about Amp. I prefer slow/instrumental music which is what I'm buying the system for.

Can you please tell me more about the model of the amp and how it suits the speakers?.

You can get a complete package from Cambridge Audio and I would recommend it as Cambridge Audio makes good quality equipment that reproduces music faithfully and musically. Their equipment is considered entry level high-end for their least expensive models and true high-end as you go up their model line (and price).

If this is music only 2 channel system Cambridge Audio has a line of integrated amps that are quite cost effective. More money spent gets you more watts and more robust sound. But even their least expensive integrated amp sounds very good.

They sell an iPod doc as well. What is your budget?

Yes I am looking for music only and don't really want to attach it to my TV.
My budget is max 20k but 8k is the speakers only and I want to keep it to a minimum only. My music format too is MP3 and not FLAC. Will that be a hindrance of any sort?.
Thanks for your reply

A cambridge audio system will streach your budget a bit. You'll have to ask yourself if you are looking for excellent (entry level high-end) sound quality.

I see another gentleman has offered a sansui receiver. Its been a while since I have heard sansui but their equipment (like pioneer, sony, panasonic, denon, etc) would be mid-fi. The cambridge audio unit will provide sound in a different league than the mid-fi brands. But the question for you is, based on your lifestyle and music listening needs is it worth it.

The lowest Cambridge Audio unit is the CA350A interated amp which can be had for $300 (usa).

They have an iD50 doc for $180 (usa). This will take the audio out and send that to the integrated amp so no issue on the type of music file format. In the future you can upgrade to a standalone dac and get the digital output from your iPod or connect a computer.

For cables I would recommend Kimber 4VS speaker cable and Kimber PBJ interconnect cable to go from the dock to the integrated amp.

I would not recommend wireless, again if audio quality is your goal.

Good luck!

The amplifier looks very expensive.
The dock has integrated amplifier?. Don't really know whether it will be worth.
Anything which you recommend at a lower price point?.
Your comments are very helpful indeed.
