Hi, I was looking for home theater setups and found this forum :)

Basically we are constructing a new house with a dedicated home theater room of size 14*17 inch. We have visited couple of shops in Chandigarh who does complete home theater setup and have suggested the following configuration-

1 Bose INV 691 front center surround & INV 591 Dolby atmos speaker - 7
2 Taga SW10V3 high quality active subwoofer - 2
3 Yamaha RXA 880 dolby atmos amplifier 1

Our room has a window on a longer side, so we are planning to have 3 speakers behind the screen and 4 speakers in the ceiling. Please suggest is this configuration fine. Our budget for the sound system is around 4 lac rs.

Hi and welcome to the forum. May i know how you shortlisted the mentioned products?. For a budget of 4 lakhs you can do way better.Yamaha RXA 880 is just a 7.2 channel avr so please avoid that since you wont be able to add 4 height channels. Go for denon 4500/3600 or the marantz 6013. These 3 avr's are a 9.2 channel avr and with a 2 channel power amplifier they can be extended to 11.2 channels. For speakers look at brands such as polk.dali,q accoustics. You can also consider in wall speakers since you are in the construction phase. Other sub-woofers you can consider are Bic f-12, Pl 200-ii. 12 inches will be better in a dedicated room. Also make sure that you do proper acoustic treatment.

You have a good budget and like Love4 sound mentioned you can do better. But first understand the various speaker configurations and layout. The link below will explain:

Since you are in construction phase you can plan your back speakers well rather than having in ceiling speakers for 4 channels. Once you plan your layout and speaker configurations please do as much audition as possible.

Hi

Good to see someone from Chandigarh.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.

Please plan the Dedicated Home Theater as a full project with sound being one component both in terms of cost and design.
So if you are planning for 4L for the sound system then keep a total budget of 8-9 lakhs.

Go through some of the dedicated HT build phases to get ideas on what to plan for before you build it.

You have a nice sized space for a dedicated HT do plan for acoustics/wiring/furniture (recliners) besides video components.

L-C-R behind the screen is a good idea, but if you were to use the window to place the speaker you may be able to do only a 5.2.4 set-up.. But if you can consider projecting it to 14 feet wide room, you can then do 7.2.4 set-up, very well in your budget..
