Floks,

Help me out to find the real and best AVR.

I am looking for an AVR which will be using for 50% Music and 50% Movie. I love great clarity and tight deep bass. Please help me from choosing the below listed one.

Denon 1312
Denon 1612
Onkyo TX SR 309
Onkyo TX NR 609

Do any of these need Step down Transformers?
Availability in Chennai? And what will be the best Price?

:)

What's your budget? What speakers you have or will buy?

Denon 1312 should be around 18-19K and 1612 is around 25K. You won't be needing a step down if you buy it from India.

Profx, Grand Cinema and Cressida AV Zone deals with Denon receivers. No idea about Onkyo.

Did you mean Onkyo 509 or 609? Stick to the higher models 1612 or 509 if you can afford them.

Buzz, depends on what kind of sources/ media you will be using it with!
If using just one cable for audio and video and routing everything through your avr is an objective, you need an avr which can do hd audio decoding. The lower models most probably wont do that. Onkyo 509 does hd audio decoding iirc. The Denon 1912 does, I am not sure about 1612.

Denon 1312 and 1612 does decode HD audio. Denon 1612 has preout to make it 7.1.

the prices are all changed buddy

1312 will come around 22-25 and 1612 around 30-32

would sugest to get 1612 for some of its advanced features and you will need 5.1 speakers also with it...with 1312 there is a HTiB 1312XP which you can get for around 30K with 5.1 speakers

No 5.1 over hdmi or spdif.

wow thats horrible, and they advertise 7.1 dolby

why not write directly to mr ambani and tell him to stop fooling customers :) and give a reference to this forum .. he would be enlightened for sure :d

at least Airtel does 5.1 DD on optical which is a huge difference compared to normal 2 channels, watching ra one now with 5.1 DD

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
