The Denon 1612 failed me again. Last time it was hdmi board problem. This time it is something weird. When the avr is powered on, it goes into protection mode flashing red light. If I press the power button again, it starts fine. This problem was there since a few months, but I didn't give much consideration as it is a small glitch. Last week I was watching a movie and suddenly the avr went into protection mode and I thought it was a problem with high voltage which eventhough is unlikely since I use a UPS. Today I installed a graphics card in my htpc and it is then I recognized that there is serious problem with this avr. Whenever there is audio through the left rear channel, it shuts down. I removed all the speakers, but the problem is still there. I reset the AVR but no use. The avr works fine if the volume is low, but as soon as there is sound through Left Rear speaker, it shuts down. Any suggestions? For servicing I may need to send it to Chennai. Is there any Denon servicing center in Cochin?

There seems to be a short in the affected channel. The two terminals are getting linked somehow. You have to send it to the service center.

Hi

Try with the left and right speakers connection at the speaker end and also try and replace speaker and test ( you can try with rear speaker also).

Hi, the problem is not with speakers or speaker connections. I removed all speakers and it shuts down when left rear receives signal. Today I took the avr to a local HT distributor and he will send it for servicing if there is any problem.

slightly different problem,
i recently bought the 1612 and used a pendrive with mp3 songs for music.
the usb gets disconnected automatically after 3- 45 sec in different cases.
Tried formatting pendrive, changed songs and still no difference.
Any suggestions
Thanks

^^ Not sure what the problem is. I have never used the usb port for playback. I suggest you to get it serviced or replaced before warranty is over. In my case the warranty is over.

Help requested. It will be very helpful if any member from Mumbai, Banglore or Delhi can help me in getting genuine regulator IC for Denon 1612. The model numbers are 7812A and 7912A. These are rated at 1 Amp. Local ones are available for around Rs.30/- but they are of low amp and cannot be fixed to the AVR chassis.

Thanks.

Baiju,
It is not clear that How to identify the genuine one?

any brand, any make? any other thing to look for?

Hey Beijuxavior - I faced the same identical issue on my Denon AVR-1602.

I took the following steps which ironically fixed the issue:

1. Reconnected all my speaker connections ensuring all cables are plugged in tightly
2. Checked all connections to and fro the Denon Amp and Yamo speakers

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Record Player

Hi Baiju,

I will try to find tomorrow from Profx Bangalore (have a contact for the Denon with regards to your IC 7812A and 7912A).

Will let you know how much it costs and whether they will give it to me.

Regards

Vinod

@jaivelu: I think we need 12V model.

@Record Player: The problem is with the power supply regulator and two ICs have gone bad. These cost a few bucks only, but getting the genuine one is the problem.

@Vinod.R: Thank you for your help. Hope it will work out.

Hi Baiju,

I have spoken to my friend in Denon.

Unfortunately neither of the two A series ICs are being imported.

So not available.

Only way is to procure it from somewhere else.

What he told me is that most of times duplicate ICs have to be used in this scenario as he would not be able to give it to me.

If you want me to look in SP road, I can look for it when I go there next time here in Keltronics.

Sorry it didn't turn out the way expected.

Regards

Vinod

Thank you Vinod. I think these particular ICs are not available easily. The technician has contacts with somone in Denon Service Center, Muscat and spare is available there. Now getting them is the problem.

Thanks. Will look for that option if getting original Denon spare is a problem. With these spares the only problem is that we can't fix it to chassis for heat dissipation.

Baiju - You can also try contacting Anil from Hi Tech Service Point Koramangala. He also sources genuine parts. Good reputated guy in Bangalore.
