Denon 2310 or Marantz 5004/6004

A friend is looking to buy an AVR and I found these 2 options for him.

Can someone tell me which would be a better choice for Movies+Music, and why. Speakers will be KEF or Polk Audio.

Also, if somone has a source for either, preferably in North India.

Marantz 6004 is better for Music, for Movies 2310 would score better..
2310 is more VFM, but in the end what you hear from the speakers should decide.. so if possible do a demo with the speakers..

they have just announced the marantz sr6005 which is cheaper than 6004.its 3d ready has hdmi 1.4. check it out. i would say wait a lil if u can

I am presuming that your friend is into movies and hence going for an AVR. So I would recommend the 2310 for two reasons. One that it comes with pre-outs which will be useful if one plans for an upgrade to a power amp and also the fact that he is looking for kefs and polks would mean you can test the combo much more easily at a profx showroom so your friend can audition and decide if he likes the sound or not. If he doesnt then one can look at the Marantz or any other option.
