Hi all,

I have an offer for a used DENON AVR-3805 in excellent condition. I want to upgrade from my Marantz NR-1501. How do you think they both compare. Of course Denons are not known for their musicality. The Marantz is very musical but underpowered. Would the Denon Hi End AVR-3805 match up with the Marantz NR-1501. The Denon has an output of 120W RMS @ 8ohms (7.1ch) and the Marantz has a 50W RMS output at 8ohms (7.1ch). I feel the DENON would be better for my Paradigm monitor 9s 150W Power rating vs the Marantz's 50w/ch which I feel is really underpowered. But how much better would it be musically is the qn. Any comments?

Thanx

Sunny

Denon 3805 is powerful than 1501 & you may not enjoy this marantz. For small room 10 X 12,mar is good.you need highend AVR.

In short Denon is better in terms of Power, but feature wise Marantz is better.
Now choice is yours.Still for larger room Denon will be good. You can enjoy HD-aud with it by connecting 5.1 analoge input.

If you need less cables, then marantz with HDMI,3D ready is all in one simple solution.
By noway to confuse you,but sharing pros & cons.

Whats your thinking?

Looking for Filters.

Looking for any small amount of Marata 10.7 MHz - 80 KHz filters to replace the wide 230 khz ones I have in a old Sony tuner anyone any ideas of where I can get these. Michael MBR UK.

Did you by any chance have that 3805 bi-amped? I am trying to accomplish that and the stupid RC-969 remote won't let me into the zone three setting-I have read forums on how to do it but one step requires using the Denon remote-I have used a Harmony but can't figure it out. Just wondered-I love my 3805 for music by the way-and I'm a picky musician/live sound tech!
