Dear FMs,

i am about to buy a budget CD player, request your help in deciding from the below, i am a budding audiophile and listen to indian music - ghazals, hindustani etc. my stereo listening is mostly on topping tp20, qinpu q2 tube amp coupled with ca s30s & magnat supreme 1000 fs.

1. Denon DCM500AE from profx under 50% off - 10K
2. Used NAD 521i from bass n treble under clearance - 9K (may be 4 year old)

Need to decide by tomm morning max, request your inputs, Cheers

Gautam

I can personally vouch for the NAD. I have been using this model for the past 10 years and am very happy with the performance. Had a marantz cd4000 before that and the NAD blows it away. Haven't auditioned the Denon but I generally prefer single cd players to changers.

thanks for the response, i too prefer the NAD but some users commented on NAD's reluctance to play CDR discs, its also mentioned that the 'i' meant improved version of the original 521 which had these issues,

did u ever had such things cropping up / heard of it, pl do revert as i have almost made up my mine to buy it. as the player is a used one i want to be sure before going ahead, thanks again

I have played a load of CDRs...never had any problems and yes 'i' is an improved version of the previous 'buggy' 521.

thanks a lot for clarifying. will update about my purchase. i am thinking of buying a valab nos from a FM. it as got good reviews and perhaps suits my kind of music, i have increased my budget and am thinking to buy both the nad and the valab dac. difficult to control the upgraditis
