I stay in a typical Mumbai compact apartment and face the regular problems of space when it comes to arranging furniture/speakers in the small space.
Recently I got myself the Andrew Jones Pioneer 5.0 speaker set and have arranged the floor standers and the center speaker around the TV. For the rears, since I wanted to wall mount the same, I ordered a Videosecu wall mount from Amazon via iShop. Now, when I actually tried installing the same, I found that apart from the speaker space, the wall mount itself takes up some space (in terms of height and depth) and hence the speakers really look like huge gargoyles protruding out quite prominently from the walls! The BS22 is one huge speaker.
The wall mount has a 10 degree tilt but since I am mounting at a height of around 7-8 ft, the tilt would not make them point to my listening position. The two walls are just 11 ft. apart (typical Mumbai apartment
)
Now the dilemma is - should I continue to use my satellites or go ahead and mount the bookshelves regardless of how crude they look. My thinking is that the rear channels do not have much soundtrack for most movies. The only thing I am losing out on is the lower frequencies at the rear channels. My current sats would not go below 150 Hz at all and my overall cutoff is at 80 Hz. Would I be missing out on much if I continue with my satellites?
