I wonder why all these restrictions here. I have been a member (and still am) of 'audioasylum' site where apart from the various threads related to audio and video, there is a separate trading section where members can post items for sale, hardware and software, without formalities like pictures, ownership etc. Those interested in buying can contact the member directly and there are no discussions on such items. The forum is in no way responsible for the trades and it is entirely between the seller and buyer. If a deal goes wrong, then some thread can be started to warn others.
I am also in 'audiogon' where I had bought several items without any issues. Of course, it is only a trading site but one can still give bad reputation in deals that go wrong.
There could be some unscrupulous seller or buyer somewhere but does not mean that the bulk of the forum members should be penalised for that. A forum like this can be made more interesting and meaningful if threads are more related to equipment and performance, and less to bargains and best prices. I hope a separate trading centre, simple and straightforward and not for hundreds of threads related to prices and disappointments and wishes of good luck, makes more sense than threads enquiring which cars to buy or which refrigerators to buy.
Just an opinion, please.
cheers.
