Hi Friends,
Planned for a 12inch DIY subwoofer , really need some serious help here. After reading few online books selected this subwoofer driver and planned to pair with crown 1502.

https://diyaudiocart.com/product/tang-band-wq-760c-12-paper-subwoofer/

I have some experience with carpentering works, so will be doing the subwoofer enclosure by myself. Definetly will be going for dual if the first build sounds good.

My room size : 12*15

As per the T/S parameter provided on the website, i found this suited for ported enclosure.

FS is 25hz, qts is 0.38, EBP comes around 62.5

Crown 1502 seems to be pricey, any other alternatives. ?

Thanks,
Subbiya

Will share the enclosure size and port dimensions tommrow.

If you wish to DIY the sizing, there are calculators that can give you a rough sizing and basic response. For further details, there are many good resources if you have an interest.

Free general advice: If you will make it ported in some way, plan to have to revise the length before you permanently fix it in the enclosure. Most "acoustic foam" is useless at low frequencies. Lastly, cheap "plate" amps die faster on the box--if it can be external/detched, it will live longer as a rule. Braces are good.

Guys, thankyou for your replies, crown amp prices are so high. Any alternative quality power amp. with low budget ? Considering the total DIY cost, I think we can purchase subwoofer itself.

Its a normal subwoofer. Nothing huge in it. Looking at the motor it is 155mm single magnet. Just search for subwoofer amplifier on Amazon. You will find what you are looking for. There is no need to go for an expensive amplifier. An amplifier for around 6-7k shall be enough for this subwoofer.

I would suggest to stay away from subwoofer amplifiers sold for under 10K on Amazon. Went to a friend's place who bought one recently and it had a very persistent and annoying hum. He already spoke to the company and they said that this much hum will be there since it is a low value item.

Try increasing the sub input level from AVR and decrease the gain from sub amp. Also see if the amp is required to give stereo or mono inputs. In case it is stereo use a splitter cable.

Did a quick simulation
Box size with heavy filling - 55L
Port size - 4inch X 17.5inch both ends flared
Max SPL - 112db@48hz at 1M 48hz
-3db - 32hz
-6db - 27.5hz
-10db - 24.5hz
Plate amp - 300W with 2nd HPF at 25hz or else the subwoofer goes out of excursion limit rather quickly with only 100W at 18hz ... HPF cutoff and slope could be played around with for better lower end response.

Man, really thankyou for your help.

I also found this driver in our HFV forum, seems good.

https://sbacoustics.com/product/12in-sb34swpl76-4/ can you please simulating this and give me your suggestions. Thankyou.

That's a good driver will simulate and let you know . There are other drivers as well which perform really well and are value for money as well.

You can use the A07 Max as a subwoofer amp, but you won't get any highpass, lowpass, etc
Fosi M03 and M04 are avaiable but they are low in power. what about below ones. ?

https://fosiaudio.com/products/fosi...tereo-digital-audio-amp-2-0-channel-amplifier

or this mono sub amp

https://fosiaudio.com/products/tda7...-220w-x-1-power-supply?variant=42457067323622
this one has freq. range selector between 20Hz - 120Hz (±1 dB), hence cannot select higher freq. incase if I'm not using AVR

Do not get these , your lower end out put will suffer , although they claim 300-600W output it will barely output 150W on the best of circumstances.
Get a rugged class Ab amp , even pro audio variants are good to go.
