DIY amp using TDA7294

and here goes my project description

-Two channels(L+R) for driving a midrange and a tweeter with a passive crossover.
-One channel of a bridged amp to power a subwoofer.

all using TDA7294 chip

drivers are not yet decided and currently testing with a pair of cheapo 8'' woofers

Looks like a simple and decent design. Seems it does not have pre-amp with bass, treble and balance control. Do you need separate Pre-amp for this. What's the RMS power output of the Amplifer?? TDA series belongs to Phillips? Isn't it? I noticed that for the size of the heat sink you are using, the power transformer is quite small or does it look small in the picture?

remove carbon resistors and put metal films with 1% ..keep vintage paper caps for input if capacitors are there ,make sure fan is noiseless.
i suggest to avoid wasting money with TDA etc .Build a gainclone hardly u will have to spend 20% extra.
Basic ginclones are simpler than TDA circuits too

the amp is to drive from a PC using Foobar2000 with Xover plugin, hence not using any bass/treble/preamps,

and about the RMS output,
d = 0.5%:
VS = 35V, RL = 8ohms ,RMS=70W
VS = 31V, RL = 6ohms ,RMS=70W
VS = 27V, RL = 4ohms ,RMS=70W
this is from TDA7294 datasheet,

the power transformer is salvaged form a old amp that i built long back, currently using for testing purposes, planing to use SMPS for final product.

yes will surely remove carbon resistors and add metal film ones, have procured alll resistors except for 22k, because instead of 22k, 22ohms resistor was given by shopkeeper, and i only looked at them once i came home

i cannot comment on SQ because i have heard to a very limited number of DIY amps, as far as my previous amps goes this is much much better:yahoo: and the response is almost flat,
