Diy fullrange speakers and EL84SE Amplifier

@keith
its not a coax but according to me it produces sum high frequencies n removing it would not be a good idea because the whizzer cone is also large considering the 10inch size of the driver unit.
what i m saying is the metal cap also radiates with the cone and therefore produces high frequencies.
I'm still :confused: but never mind!

... I also thought about the phase plug but there's a prob that the whizzer cone is not producing high frequencies. the high frequencies are being produced by the centre metal dome n replacing it with phase plug will not be a good idea for me.

I doubt the dustcap is made of metal, it could probably be a polycarbonate one with chrome finish. Many old drivers used to sport these dustcaps. Also if the dustcap to be effective in radiating high freq, it need to be fitted on top of the voice coil, not to the whizzer cone as in your Bolton drivers.

The whizzer is responsible for the high frequency reproduction. As the beaming happens co-axially at the whizzer cone, some frequencies gett accentuated and it may appear as if radiating from the center, ie. the dustcap.

Please suggest what else i can do with this set of speakers. I am thinking about super\horn tweeters with a crossover tuned at 13khz. The crossover is complete and i tried it with a local dome tweeter which was low spl as compared to the bolton driver.

Great :clapping: Try Bolton HT-20 which has a frequency response of 8k-40k with a 96 dB sensitivity its 1 dB more than Fullrange ;)

Antony the vented alloy Domes are made of metal only:ohyeah: I lived with them most of my life & they are responsable for ultra high frequency reproduction:ohyeah: & the Alignment of voice coil, whizzer cone, Alloy dome are Perfect & superb:clapping:

Thanks a lot for feedback n liking it. The bolton drivers are in a sealed type enclosure [no bass ports] whose volume is 81ltrs. The bolton drivers costed me arnd 1700rs, mdf boards n mica sheet - 2500 and carpenter - 2500rs. The valves are all nos 6sn7 [rca], el84 [bel and philips] and 5yg3 [toshiba]. I also thought about the phase plug but there's a prob that the whizzer cone is not producing high frequencies. the high frequencies are being produced by the centre metal dome n replacing it with phase plug will not be a good idea for me.
Anyone who likes to audtion these just call me 9999102185. It would'nt be really possible without the help of my uncle and my dad who really helped me a lot.

I completely agree with you brother the Alloy dome will produce high to ultra high frequency wher as whizzer cone will reproduce mid hi's I had these fullrange speakers for a very long time sadly my SS Amp chewd it :lol:

:confused: Are you saying that the metal cap is not a dust cap but a high frequency driver? Is this a coax driver?

keith no it is not a Co-axial its a Tri-axial:ohyeah:, Alloy Dome is Acoustically Active Element producing Ultra High Frequency it can withstand 196khz content with ease while the Mid's & Mid Hi's are taken care by Whizzer Cone nicely:licklips:
