Hi All,

I all am set for another DIY amp build with LM3886 to drive my Econowaves.

This will be 4 channel amplifier, 2 channels for tweeter and 2 for woofer.

Planning to make a big cabinet to house a 2 channel class D Amplifier also so that i can run my future Dual Sub woofer build.

Sourcing:

- AMP Chasis - Complete DIY based on this design

https://mfspdesigns.wordpress.com/?attachment_id=13

- KNOBS DIY - Bought 1.5 Inch Aluminium rod, need to get them machined.

- Connectors - Bought from MX koti

- Potentio meters from Agarwal electronics gujrati galli.

- LM3886 Boards and Power supply - Eight Audio.

Today I have to complete the Rack and start off with the AMP chassis build.

Thanks,
Yashwanth

In my opinion the 3886 is the best compromise between sound and power. The 3875 is great if you have sensitive speakers.

The 4780 is pure power but having said that, there are PS mods that claim to offer better sound, I didn't try them out though.

Total cost of the cabinet:

- mdf = free pieces lying out of rack i recently made
- veneer = free pieces lying out of rack i recently made
- Carepentry = 150 rs

Knobs = material 90Rs+150Rs for making

Aliminium panels = material and cnc cutting = 1200 rs

Polish = material 80 rs + process diy Free....:-)

Connectors,switch = 1500 Rs.

Now waiting for Eight Audio to supply me the LM3886 Boards and power supply module.

Econowaves are done, amplifier is also going to be closed soon , rack is done..active cross is over is pending....!

So once this project gets completed .. people at home will never allow me to do any more stuff... two sub woofers and class d are pending though....ha..ha..

After this i am planning to take up roof gardening...:-) so that i will be occupied with some thing.

Thanks,
Yashwanth

@yogibear

Here is a link to ebay seller who has 20-0-20 toroid transformer

I recently bought 24-0-24 from him but not sure about quality as I haven't used it yet, may be experts can comment on the quality.

This is a USHA power brand of transformer, experts please advise is this any good?

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi Aves,

The cabinet is a wooden enclosure with bottom of steel sheet i sourced from a welding shop.

The front, back and top panels are aluminium sheets ..cut by cnc machine.

The other four sides are mdf, covered in veneer and polished in contrast with the color of the aluminium panels.

Here is the source of aluminium panels and cnc cutting place:
