When I stream videos from my Hard disk to my TV I am not able to control the rewind or fast forward button from the TV remote. I am able to pause and skip to next chapter. Any work around for rewinding or fast forwarding from the remote.

What software you are using for Streaming?
I have Nero media home and all of a sudden I am not able to view or play the files using that? I am able to see the list and files but not able to play it both on my LG TV as well as using my Panasonic bluray player? Getting unknown error message?
Any pointers would help

I'm using the same with the LG TV. Open Nero Media Home and on the Devices column check to see if everything is not offline. Also if you are using wireless connection and if you have large database of video files it would take some time to get it indexed.
I use Homestream which is Sony's repackage of Serviio and fast forward, rewind works fine DLNA streaming from PC to my HX850. From what I recall, Plex Media Server and PS3 Media Server were also able to fast forward and rewind very nicely.
It is possible that video is being transcoded by the DLNA server before streaming to your TV and if that overloads the CPU on your PC the DLNA server may not be able to respond to FF, REW commands from the TV. It is also possible that the software you are using for DLNA streaming does not support FF, REW but that is rather unlikely.
I use the Nero Media Home for DLNA streaming. Any other programme that can be used instead of this.There is no problem in streaming of videos as even a 1080p movies stream perfectly well. Searched some forums but seems like this is a universal problem for all TV's when streaming through DLNA.
Here are a few links to free DLNA servers all of which I have tried and found that they do FF, REW without a problem:
Sony Homestream As I said earlier, I currently use this free Sony repackage of Serviio (which is linked below). Not sure if Homestream will work for non Sony TV'S, but you can give it a try since it is free.
I had tried these freeware DLNA servers (using which FF, REW worked) before finally settling on Homestream :

I haven't tried these DLNA servers, but they too might give you the FF, REW feature you seek. They are also freeware

Tried almost all of them like plex, servio, twonky etc. The FF and RW function still does not work in any of them. However settled with kooraroo as it deciphers any file thrown at it. Still FF and RW function does not work in the LG TV while streaming. Still searching for it....

Even I tried to make the DLNA streaming work but finally gave up because of the multiple quirks. Finally ordered a Google Chromecast to keep things simple.
