Does it matter how old the recording is ?

I was just wondering : does it matter whent the music was recorded?

Does a 1970s album sound as good on a hi-fi as a 1990s one..

People enjoy albums of 60s and 70s and call it golden era.

Does the sound quality differ from recent albums?
What are your perceptions?
