Does YouTube support multichannel audio?

Check the below link. It's the specifications for uploading videos to youtube.
Youtube Support
Now in the audio specs, it says 5.1 is supported. But for the videos to downstream 5.1 audio we need to use proper players.
Flash video does not support 5.1. HTML5 videos support. Maybe that's the reason some don't receive 5.1 audio.

I was watching the 2.0 trailer over Chromecast today. If my guess is right, the digital audio that the Chromecast received was a 2.0 prologic compatible audio, like in old divx movies. Prologic can separate it to a proper 4.1 output and prologic 2 will upmix it to 5.1. It is highly likely that YouTube support 5.1 and can downmix multichannel in to prologic encoded stereo.

YouTube audio is in Dolby stereo, and this is different from 2 channel stereo. In Dolby stereo, we have two front channels, two rear channels. The audio track of the two rear channels is written into the front channels, with a phase shift. So though the audio signal is only 2 channel, because of the rear tracks being played with a phase shift, it gives the illusion of surround sound. And if we play this track through a 5.1 system, the player runs a Dolby matrix from the 1970's, to decode this rear channel information and give you surround sound. So it is virtual surround and not true surround.
