My Videocon d2h STB is the latest HD DIGI STB 2233.
My TV is Samsung UA40C5000 LED
My home theater is Samsung HT-H5550K

At the moment what I have done is connect the STB to the TV through HDMI cable & the TV to the HT through Digital optical cable.

When I select Dolby Digital from a channel (like Star Movies HD) I don't hear any sound. But when I select normal (English) track, it gives the sound.

How can I get Dolby Digital through my setup? Please help.
(My HT does not have HDMI in, it has only HDMI out)

Additionally there might be a setting on your TV to pass-thru DD signal to HT. Even I have a similar setup with a sony TV and once I select speakers to 'audio system' I get DD on my HT. The TV should support DD signal which you can probably check from the user manual.

HTH

Please confirm DIGI STB 2233 is giving DD sound trough HDMI or not if not we can't do anything and we have to connect coaxial wire from STB to direct HT.try it and let me know.

Connect coaxial out of stb directly to the ht.

HD DIGI STB 2233 does not have coaxial. It has out as follows

Is there any luck?

There will be a SPDIF out, connect it to SPDIF input of HT. The usual RCA cable can be used for connection.

@baijuxavior is there any chat you're online right now (yahoo. gtalk, msn or skype) so that I can ask few more questions please?

That diagram looks just a bit different than this picture

which appears to have some kind of a connector next to the R audio connector which just might be a coaxial digital out. Hard to say from the picture.

A hi-res picture of the back of your 2233 STB and pictures of any ports on the sides might help identify whether you have a coax/optical out anywhere on the box.

Hi,

I have a same sort of Set Up as Kav4. It goes as follows :-

1. Videocon D2H (HD Digi STB - 2233)
2. Samsung LED full HDTV (UA40F5100)
3. Sony HTS (DAV-DZ340K)

Now, the aim is to get Dolby SS from your Videocon D2H as well as from TV if you connect your HDD to TV USB port to watch a movie.:D

The set up goes like this :-

1. Connect Videocon to TV via HDMI. (this should send both AV to TV).
2. Connect TV to HTS via HDMI2. (The TV should be having at least 2 HDMI ports)(this will send video of HTS to TV).
3. Connect Audio Out from TV to Audio in (RW) of HTS. (this will send audio from TV to HTS)(my sony didn't had any coaxial SPDIF or Optical).

Via this sort of connection both AV goes from STB to TV, you see the video Output on TV, and as 3rd part explained TV's Audio out goes to HTS, so you get Surround Sound from STB as well as if you connect your Hard Drive to watch a movie through TV.

This is all DIY, and I get Dolby SS, do let me know if this helped, or if someone else can tell if I can set this up any better? Thanks.

Hi,

I have Videocon STB 2222, Onkyo HTS and Panasonic Plasma. I am able to get DD output from all HD channels which has DD feed. So, let me try clear it to you...

as mentioned above you have HDMI out from your STB so,

Step 1:

Connect your HDMI out from STB to HTS like STB HDMI ->> HTS HDMI In (I am not sure how many HDMI In is available in your HTS)

Step 2:

Connect the HDMI out from HTS to TV like HTS HDMI out ->> TV HDMI In. (for this you need another HDMI cable from which you can connect from HTS to TV)

to make simple it will be like:

STB -> HTS -> TV.

If you do this you must get the DD sound for all the HD channels.
