Eddie Van Halen tribute

How many of you have listened extensively to Eddie's music on LP's ? The cd's that I have been exposed to make me think what the sound engineer was thinking ( or smoking ) when he made the mix. There is so much talent there but it is recoded so badly.
I have never heard Van Halen on Vinyl. Is it really very different (and better) than from digital versions?

I had 2 of his LPs . I can't find them as they might be with my brother now. As far as I remember ,the general tonality of the LPs were the same as the CDs ,except they sounded slightly more open and less compressed.I also found them slightly thin sounding at the beginning , but they sounded OK after I got used to their riff based sound.
