Hi guys,
This is an idea which I think nobody has thought about.
What is the reflective/absorbing quality of say, a swimming pool or a lot of buckets of water in the listening room?
Has such a thought occurred to anyone?
I would like to know your thoughts or feedback on the way a body of water changes/does not change the end quality of the music/sound being played back.
Does it change the Bass or Treble or Midrange in any way?
Post your ideas or thoughts here...

Sound ...with added depth!

I seem to remember that sound travels through water faster than through air [???]. Apart from that, I don't think it is going to do anything other than add a huge risk and nuisance to the room. Carefully placed soft furnishings would probably be far more acoustically useful.

It would be a relatively cheap experiment though. If anyone tries it, do please also try buckets of sand, and compare the results. And gravel.

On the topic of water, I think (dream) that the perfect way to listen to music would be in a large bathroom - with self nicely ensconced in a hot jacuzzi, and a glass of chilled tipple within arm's reach.

A real bathroom build, if you will.

They are pretty useless to absorb frequency below 4kHz. You can find the absorption coefficients here. However, if you were to use water spray then you can have effective attenuation of sound energy.

Please use the search engine to find out how water spray aerosol used to control sound during the space shuttle use. In other experiments, the use of a simple water shower to prevent the sonic weapon from making any damage.

I am not sure about the effects of water on music though believe that there would be significant effect. The effect of music and words on water has been elaborately researched by the eminent Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto

I am currently researching on the effects of crystals on the sound signature and there is definitely a significant impact although a bit unpredictable at this stage. Anybody in Pune who would like to witness this is welcome to get in touch with me.

randhir
crystals
even metals of correct thickness and curvature very much have their effects

resonaters are all based onthis

synergetic research and ASI liveline guys both use these tuning fork type properties
getting it right is one big bi**h though

Im struggling just to complete the sugar cubes before i attempt resonaters

Randhir, I'm sure that FM's here would love to see/hear of what you are doing and in what way you are employing crystals to affect sound. If you are so inclined, can you please open up a new thread to showcase what work you are doing?
