Hi guys,

I am planning to buy a PJ around 1 lakh, and decided on Epson 6100.
Anyone from bangalore who bought this projector ?

If so, how is your experience ? and recommendations please ?

Just placed an order with DNI Hometheater in Bellandur for around 1.1. Getting it installed tomorrow. Will post after installation.

If 1.1 lakh includes tax then it is a very sweet deal. I got mine for 98K or so (tax included) last year. PM me if you need details.

Thanks indy & sash !! (will wait for your pics indy :))

Also, do you know if it is better to go with 5200 (newer model) from Epson, did you compare these two models ?

I hear 5200 is also good, but 6100 is better in contrast and picture quality. So I went for that. But problem is he didn't come today for installation :( DNI seems to be opening another store in Hebbal and they are busy with that. So not sure :( was very eager today but let down. Not very good customer service.

I feel your pain brotha. I remember when i got my PJ and screen, i got the mount/screen installer to come home at 9 pm and it went on till 2 AM. Thankfully the guy was as excited as i was. The family was mad due to all that wall drilling at the unearthly hour but i'd hear none of that. Excruciating wait it surely is....

Guys, Installation is done. Dying to go home and check it out. Mr. Alex from DNI personally called me last evening and they came in the morning promptly and completed the installation by afternoon. Will run it over weekend and try post some pics.

2 Days later. We watched a few movies and HD Video songs and the quality of the picture is amazing. Colors are rich and blacks are deep enough. Even with some ambient light it looks very good. Just needed some dark curtains to close the window.

I got a 9 ft liberty screen but projected only 8 feet of it because my room length is only 11 feet. 10M HDMI Profigold cable runs through the ceiling through the fan and to the projector. Installation overall was done very neatly and the guys even swept the floor after completion.

Sound is through my old Denon AVR 1311 with Polk TSI300 , Polk CS150 centre and 2 Denon HTIB Satellites (which I am thinking to replace soon with Polk satellites).

I had bought Pioneer BDP 450 with the package and I think the clarity of the picture from this is really good. I have some quirks though overall - There is a picture delay from projector of about 8 seconds and I am checking with them why. Pioneer 450 was not reading one of the discs audio which was a copied bluray. Need to check. Also, need to make it region free for some of the DVDs I have from US.

Otherwise a neat package:
EPSON TW6100
Profigold 10M HDMI
Liberty 9 x 5 Screen - Manual pull down
Pioneer BDP 450
Speaker Cables

PM Me if you want to know price.

Only thing I didn't like about DNI is they don't deal with Polk audio. So for my speaker upgrades I have to go to Profx. Otherwise I am planning to upgrade my amp with them.

1. What do you mean by delay of 8 seconds? I dont see any delay with mine. Can u pls explain?
2. Consider making the walls darker, at least the front few feet and the screen wall. It'll improve contrast and black levels by a large extent.

Hi Sash, I am running the 10M HDMI to Denon AVR 1311 (Old one but has 3D passthru). Pioneer BDP is connected to BD Input. Once I select a file to play in the BD, it plays the audio immediately but the video takes 6 to 8 seconds to appear on screen.
HDMI Cable from Pioneer to Denon is an old one, should I replace ?

Also, certain downloaded files have AC3 passthrough and they don't play audio. Should I connect Coax cable to get the audio.

Any help will be great.

Thanks for posting the pictures indy. Congrats !!

Please excuse me for the lengthy mail. Please take your time to reply, am sure the PJ will keep you busy for a month atleast :)

I am not an audiophile, also have budget constraints now as I have moved to my new home now :)

What I have now ?

I have a Sony DVD Home Theatre (5.1) as of now (planning to just use this for audio output),

A 39 inch LED Toshiba which I bought recently, and I use a Raspberry Pi with openelec (XBMC) installed as HTPC to stream videos to my TV now.

Been following this forum for some quite sometime now, and want to take the plunge now and buy a PJ.

No intent of buying DVD's or Bluray's, main purpose is to watch Bluray Rips (HQ Rips, ie 10 GB mostly, mostly these contain 5.1 channel audio).
But my HT accepts only analog, that too stereo input.

So, is it OK, if I just buy a PJ, and postpone buying an amp as you guys say and still enjoy good audio from it. My SONY HT system does contain an amplifier, but I know you can't compare it with denon, yamaha etc. I don't need heavy bass and loud sound, but
clarity of dialogues and ups/downs of music etc should be above average :)

Also, my room is 10 x 15, and I have to project on the 10 feet wall, with a viewing distance of around 12 feet, which screen do you suggest and of what size, can I postpone buying a screen now or is it better if I buy both at the same time ?

Budget: All inclusive 1.2 lacs

@sash, if you can also help/suggest please do :)

Hi Sandeep, if your budget is 1.2 then you can get the Epson 6100 with screen with a slight stretch. But you need a good audio equipment also, otherwise it won't match for what you see and what you hear :)

Alternatively, go for Epson 5200 or Benq 1070 and then invest rest of the money in a Home theatre in a box. Good ones are available from Denon and Yamaha in 30 to 40K range i think. For a 10 x 15 feet room with 12 feet viewing you can go for 9 feet screen and project as much your eyes allow you to see without strain.

Guys, delay problem fixed. It was my amp, I just had to switch HDMIs and it worked. Turned out to be no brainer.

So as of now, following rates got for Epson Projectors
5200 - 75k
6100 - 95k
6600 - 1.2L

6100 looks tempting as epson india will give full support inspite of new model launch.
so either 6100 or 6600??? confusing !
