Epson Tw-8200

Guys,

I'm planning to buy this projector, yet this forum has very little to no opinions on it? Is it worth buying?

Its a big spend, just want to hear your thoughts

It will be in the living room, 20 feet in length about 15 feet in width, planning for seating around the 12 feet mark, its a pretty dim room although it has windows, need the tube light on during the day

Its a deadly PJ, beautiful quality & worth purchasing IMHO.

Have you taken demo of it yet??? If not then pls do so.

I have a TW 8100 - the pre-decessor to Tw 8200. Tw 8100 has 320000:1 contrast with this the contrast quality of the picture is superb.

Tw 8200 has double the contrast 600000:1 can imagine the quality of the picture with big size of picture beyond 120" screen.

I understand that TW 8200 was brought in to compete with Panasonic and sony models at that price levels. It is also to increase the price levels and subsequent margins.

But if thinking of TW 8200 advice is to try for 8100 if you are not going beyond 120" screen. 8100 is not available(but if you try you can locate!) but if it is available compare both of them before taking decision since it is from the same brand.

You should be able to find the dealer on Epson India web site. I demoed it in Hyderabad and dealer brought it to my house. He projected the movie on a white wall and it looked pretty good.

Btw, I demoed this projector and JVC X35 in USA. JVC X35 stands out but given the price diff. Epson is not a bad deal at all.
