EPSON TW8100 projector focus seems a bit soft - any suggestions?

Hi,

I just got the EPSON TW8100 projector a while back and one thing that has been nagging me is that the focus on the projector seems to be a bit soft to me. Is it supposed to be like this? The text seems very slightly blurred. Of course while watching movies you hardly notice it and in fact it may even be helping to give the picture a smoother look but I just want to know if I can do something to rectify this. I had an older Sony projector and its image was more sharper than the Epson.

Have you tried calibrating convergence yet? The epsons, while great PJs ptherwise, suffer from convergence issues more than other similar lcd projectors. Fixing convergence digitally will definitely improve image sharpness along with overall picture quality. Give it a try if you haven't already. You should be able to find an option for it in PJ settings.

Focus your projector using an extremely detailed image. In my case I hooked up my laptop to the projector and used a very sharp image and it helped

My office Epson projector also had similar problem, No amount of adjusting could get it to focus , They finally fixed it by talking it back and adjusting something inside.
Ask the dealer to set it up for you, They might know of similar problem and fix it.
