Price of both channels together is Rs.55 and are included in All Round and Magnum HD Base packs only.
Also it added Sonic tv and becomes first operator to do so.

not sure the settings in Onkyo but for Denon here my thread

airtel outputs 5.1 through optical and downmixed stereo through HDMI. Since you gave connected the Optical to your AVR, it has something to do with your AVR settings.
probably someonw with Onkyo AVR can help you out with the settings.

I have marantz. HDMI from airtel box does not contain surround. So connect I connected HDMI to receiver with optical out. The receiver has a setting where I explicitly select HDMI with optical for audio. Second option you could try is component out & optical out from set top to receiver. This shd also work, although i have not tried

I had the same problem.
Here is the solution.

Take the HDMI out from Set top box/Sat Receiver and connect it directly to TV.

Use the AVR only for audio, take the optical out from Sat Recvr., connect it to the optical in of AVR.

Assign one particular input (BD,DVD, SAT/CBL) with optical as input and use it while watching TV.

Only for HD channels you will get the DOLBY output, for SD channels you will get STEREO only.

If your TV has more than one HDMI IN sockets, connect the Monitor out HDMI from AVR and Sat Recvr. HDMI out to different HDMI INs of TV for getting the on screen display from AVR and Video out from set top box/sat recvr. respectively.

In this setup you can use the TV without even switching on the AVR by using the TV speakers for audio as HDMI gives both audio and video. Whenever you want 5.1 sound from an HD channel you can reduce the TV volume to zero and use AVR for quality audio output.

Hope you will get the results.

We have to pay extra for these newly added HD channels as of now; but as per the customer care executive they are going to give all HD channels without any extra cost for all HD customers within a month. Good news, isn't it?

Thanks BT Cochin... I bought the optical cable and connected it from STB to receiver. I know get 5.1 for all channels and not just HD channels. But i do have a question on the AVR settings... when I have it in 'PCII' or 'NEO 6' the audio is very lo. When I have it in 'Multi Channel' the audio is good when i set the volume to -30. BTW i am talking about Denon 1911.

Any help from experts is appreciated...

you will get true 5.1 dolby digital for only HD channels, for normal non HD channels your AVR is just simulating 5.1 by neo 6 or PL 2

check the channel levels when your AVR is in neo 6, or PL 2, make all 0db and center increase to few dbs what ever suits ur listening

Star cricket HD channel from Airtel (which I am getting for the last few days) doesn't have any 5.1 audio output, it only gives stereo. Don't know why; may be because it is a sports channel...

you mean you get 5.1 DD signal for all other HD channels but not with start cricket HD ?

have you connected ur AVR with optical or just hdmi ?
