Ever Measured the frequency response of your ears?

My hearing fades after 14kHz.

I guess working in a refinery with all noise from motors and leaking steam etc has taken a toil.

Yeah alpha1, +1 to Kamal on that.

I recently left a party because the DJ had the (horribly equalized) level cranked up so high it was actually causing me physical pain. When I excused myself saying I wasn't feeling well, I wasn't lying. Funnily enough, the younger crowd, who would naturally have much more sensitive hearing, wanted it louder.

Disclaimer: as a teenager, you could hear my music all the way down the street! Bugged everybody. Over the years though, I've noticed my tolerance for loudness has reduced considerably...

I've also begun to take seriously the warnings that once those little hair cells in your inner ear are damaged or die, they're gone for good.

kamal, that was long time back - am no longer working there.

Fortunately, for me, since I am not sensitive to very high frequencies, lower bitrate mp3 also sound fine!
