whats the budget ?

on of the most VFM and really good external SC's you can buy is the emu 404 USB (cost 200$ shipped in CONUS)
however wouldnt you like to look at better speaker chices than bose?
(if its more movies that intrest you than music i canunderstand your choice of speakers though)

in that case you can get pretty much any SC card depending on how many channel outs you need

Hi

You can opt for the Asus Xonar or the Creative X fi fidelity series. Asus comes around 3000 while the creative around 5500

What are the external sound card options pairing with Macbook? Price no bar. What will be the difference in SQ between Macbook+DAC and Macbook+External Sound card?

Hi, I have the Bose companion 3 and use it with creative xfi usb(<3k i think) and is a dramatic improvement over onboard. I use it with my stereo amp as well.
