Flipkart giving Blu rays on 30% Discount

I found the Bluray titles are quiet good.

Rupam, thanks for the info. There are few discs which could be cheaper than regular prices.

However, I still find the Bluray prices very high in Indian market.

For example:
Flipkart is selling Harry Potter Collection at Rs. 6299; while the same is priced at 28 GBP on Amazon UK which comes 26.91 on final checkout after VAT deduction and inclusion of shipping charges. Thus it's just INR 2216.95 on Amazon UK as on today.

And Not to forget all the UK Harry Potter discs are Region Free.

Similarly, LOTR Extended edition is priced at Rs. 5999 on Flipkart. While the same is available in 34.38 which comes 32.23 on final checkout.
(However Amazon UK LOTR discs are Region B locked)

In addition, packaging and quality of Indian made discs could be compromised as well as there might be content restriction by ridiculous censoring.

All I would like to say is....Bluray discs for foreign movies are notoriously high in Indian market. It's always better to compare prices from Amazon UK or US before paying so high to Indian sellers !!

Other than region locking another inconvenience that I face with amazon imported blurays that they don't have English subtitles. Its not that I depend on subtitles always but sometimes they can be an added bonus for Indian audience.

Hi Rupam, what Haisaikat said is absolutely true. Even I make sure each time that English subtitles are always there. Because my discs are not limited to me, they are watched by few friends as well.

I have almost 180 Bluray titles (movies and TV shows) now and all of them have come from Amazon US/UK except few Hindi movies Bluray bought in India and all the titles have English subtitles. I have hardly seen any Bluray I wanna purchase and that is without English subtitles. 99% Bluray discs comes with English subtitles.
The only exception I found is Bluray of 'The Pianist' which I haven't yet bought; but blu-ray.com info says it doesn't contain English subtitles.

You don't have to use Credit Card only to purchase from Amazon. You can use any International Debit Card and almost all the banks provide them now a days.
Also, there is always 101% guarantee with Amazon that you'll NEVER loose your money; in case product doesn't reach to you in good condition.

I think the shipping thru iShop is slightly lesser than even Amz-US directly. You can provide them with a list of products with the URLs and they will send you a final quote for the bulk shipping alongwith the product cost. You can give it a try.

Yes, I was mistaken, Blurays have English subtitle but DVDs from amazon uk does not contain English subtitles.
I intend to buy these from amazon but there is no subtitle.

Granted that there are some BDs that are quite cheap in India, e.g. Skyfall which I purchased at Rs. 879/- at Landmark-on-the-net. I also sourced Avengers 3D from Flipkart at Rs. 1349/- when it is priced 25 at Amazon, UK and nearly $35 on US website. But these are generally exceptions. On the whole Amazon, UK is almost always the cheapest. Shipping cost on Amazon, UK are also lower. To top it, you also get 20% VAT refund.

If you are purchasing from Amazon, UK and shipping directly to your home in India via Amazon, you get 20% VAT refund. There is a good chance that you will not need to pay duty if you are not from Maharashtra. Even in MH state, sometimes you don't pay duty if the package is marked as gift and the pack value is low (less than 40 or so). Both these advantages are lost if you use iShop or SnS.
