Hi everyone,

We are altering our house for an extension. During recent rains there were some leakages into the locked room where i had kept my speakers. One of my Monitor Audio MR6 got soaked in water which has resulted in bulging of the Cabinet bottom. Please see the attached photos.

I had purchased the speakers only about 6 months back and used minimally. Was waiting for my house construction to be completed and thinking of using it in full fledged.

Can this be repaired? Could you guys please help!

You probably should make a cabinet set. You can make lot better cabinets than that particle board one. Wood or plywood wont swell with water and is a lot better. Plywood cabinets are lighter but stronger, and you can stuff more in it etc etc
Cool.
srinath.

I just want to repair it. The dealer is saying there will not be spares for cabinets. Only drivers can be replaced. Is it so?

I am miles away from you, yet I feel the pain.
@srinath, is it possible to make exact replica of the cabinet following DIY route? Only 1 cabinet is damaged, now if only one cabinet is changed, won't it affect sound uniformity?

Ha, thats Bad. We could just fix it-But am sure it might not turn to it old shape though.

1.Remove all the drivers +Crossovers+Foam from the speaker.
2.Get some wood grains from the local wood workshop.
3.Just mix the Wood grains with fevicol and Just can cover the gaps in the speaker.
4. Just hold them tight with furniture clamps and make it dry.
5.One the layer get dry, then use to shrink, then apply another coating of the Wood grains and fevicol paste.
5.Just repaint then place where the you have filled the wood.
6.Fill and fit the Foam,Crossover and drivers.

If its old Speaker then, You could have sold them and can try for new, But thats not possible in your case.
I have restored one of Old Technics speaker by this way and can find difference in Shape but not the sound.
