Hi all,

Iam presently using a pair of qacoustics concept 40's with a bluesound powernode in a stereo setup for music.

Though the speakers are refined and very clear, iam looking for speakers that are more pacy, and do not hold back on excitement for the sake of refinement.

The source will be a Yamaha wxc-50, and the amp is parasound halo integrated.

My listening room is 11x20 ft long. The speakers will be placed 8ft apart, 50 cms away from the back wall. My seating position will be 8 ft from the speakers. No side walls to speak of, but will have a dining table behind me.

I listen to a lot of EDM, daft punk etc.

My budget is 2L, and can stretch upto 2.5L if needed. I can consider adding a sub later for added extension.

I would like the speakers to be a upgrade from the QACOUSTICS concept 40, and not a sideways step.

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.

For this budget please have a listen to bookshelves in this price point

Believe me you won't regret. Even with EDM

Listen and then decide

Maybe look at bookshelves for about a lac as a good speaker will require an amplifier change or maybe try actives

In short keep the FS out

Thanks rikhav, any reason why I shouldn't consider the floor standers. I will have to add stands for a book shelf speaker. And that will spoil the aesthetics in the dining room.

Besides Iam looking to have a system that goes from atleast 25hz to 20000. Since I have to add a sub to reach that level,. I want floorstanders that go atleast to 50hz, so that I can hide the sub , and as the sub is doing below 50hz it won't sound localised. Am I right in my approach.

Good quality bookshelves will go well below 40hz. Check PMC range for example

At your budget a bookshelf will outperform a floorstander wrt. Overall sound

KEF R700 and PSB Imagine X2T. At different price points but both great speakers. Going for the PSB will leave you with enough dough for the sub purchase.

Thanks jayaraa and rikhav.

Noted that for the jump in sound quality IAM looking for, I either have to increase my budget for floor standers or settle for bookshelves.

Those pmc's are great speakers no doubt , but I also want the speakers to be appealing to the eye. As they will be placed in the dining room, and I don't have a dedicated man cave. Those pmc's won't impress the wife.

Rikhav can you please suggest some book shelves that I should consider in my price range apart from the pmc's. Thanks .

Thanks ranjeetrain.

Those R700's are actually under consideration. But not sure if they are fast and Pacey. Have you heard them by any chance.

I was actually thinking of the R500's and a sub.

Let other experts chip in

They surely have more in-depth knowledge then me

With old taxes I think you could get dynaudio focus you could get
For 3 lacs contour
I
Very good speakers

Many such brands

Recently Monitor Audio has released new version of Silver series. These are the most good looking speakers and performance of the current sliver series is at par with that of similarlly price speakars brand. In past have audition PMC bookshelf speakers and definately they sounds better than many floor standing speakers similarly priced

Thanks all for the advise.

Going by the opinions here and my budget, guess I will go second hand. Will wait for some good speakers to turn up in the pre-worshiped market.

Saw some rethm sadhanas going for a mouth watering price. But sadly couldn't contact the seller, due to site restrictions. Don't know is why IAM not allowed to reply to a sale query.

Thanks again jayaraa and Bonfi.

Sadly those tannoy's are way above my price point. But Iam seriously interested in the PMC's mr.jayaraa. But I don't know how to take our conversation ahead as iam presently sailing on a boat. And am using internet via a satellite. Would you mind sending me a message on my whatsapp number 8185943344. Thanks

There's a B&W 804 on the same hifiads.com and it's in Hyderabad.
FYI, hifiads is a sister site but open to non members as well.

Thanks nature lover.

IAM not sure if the B&W 804's are a step up from the concept 40's. Those pmc's look delightful. Just waiting for mr.jayaraa to ping me :)

You are under estimating the 804's by a lot :)

No doubt the PMC's you are looking at are no slouch but the 804's are in different league then you are thinking it to be

Ofcourse you will need loads of clean power to get the best out of it
