a lot of us may not be able to test every piece of every equipment exhaustively. some of us may not even be aware some things exist -
eg. RI interfaces on recievers and cd players, different video output connectors... 73/45 rpm on a turntable. It's a long list. Bias calibration on cassette decks

As mentioned numerous times, it's as simple as the buyer checking out the unit as thoroughly as he can. Ask for as many pictures, videos and question the seller till satisfaction. All this if buyer cannot himself or have a friend audition in person.

A basic template capturing basic details of the product is a good idea. Have a Private section where the sale thread is reviewed by mods and seller makes changes. Only when mods are satisfied, they make the thread Public.

When the seller is asked to declare the problems, the buying risk can be mitigated to a large extent. Its not an obligation rather a responsibility to do so and the rule will be merely emphasising on it.

A gear could do a lot, but if you do not understand the basic or core functions or features of the equipment you should not be selling it, IMO. WiFi capability of a streamer is not something one would not bother to check before selling.

If you didn't know a function even exists there's a good chance the buyer also would not need so the damage may not be so grave. Basically we are trying to elaborate the 'working condition' usually declared by sellers. If it is not 10/10, explain why.

When a flag is raised and we go back to the sale thread, the intent to hide or mislead can be understood though it may be too late.

We did contemplate to start a thread for "Grins and Frowns" but were apprehensive that it can become too nasty too often.

I think we should have a template for classifieds and advise every seller to stick to it.

"What is not working? " can be one of the declarations they shall explicitly mention in their post.

What is not working if mentioned, nothing well sell here for lucrative price, so intended cheating sellers will not disclose and have lame excuse like damaged in transit or not tested part..
