FOCAL 714 is it bright confused

Hi Guys

i auditioned Focal 714 with pioneer high end receiver in DNI gome theater bangalore and liked it a bit

I asked the guy to lower the treble by -1 so it sounded good

but my opinion was like its little bright to my ear and bass is also boomy....

Focal 714: 7/10 rating little brighter

Important advice: can i use wharfedale surrounds 10 DFS which are cheap
i am worried about 6 ohms is it ok

Av receivers shortlisted are : Denon avr 1100(rs 42,000), Marantz 5006,5008( its a bit costly )

Dali zensor 5 : Not so good didn't like it no bass at all
not good for my kind of music (electronic music like house and trance)

Please suggest me a good floorstanding

I sometimes use a Marantz 5007 and Focal 706s for EDM. Can't say it sounds bright. Top end has a slight coarseness, sure. What is your source? The Focals are neutral I think (very very limited knowledge) and they react badly to low bit rate mp3s.

I have heard the focal 7 series (though the bookshelves only), and cannot term them as bright at all. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The fault could be the receiver that you are pairing it with. Do you have an opportunity to hear them with a proper amplifier?

yamaha avr + focal 714 (at dni itself) = was super bright to my ears. In fact was harsh!
