Hi Magma, Fostex has a nice tonal balance but if you are looking for speed, immediacy, dynamics and transparency nothing can beat a Lowther. It will sound a little lean so you will have to work on the cabinet design to overcome that

These are FE106's pr 104's or something like that right ?
Well regarded speakers in a TL style cabinet.
No idea about Lowther, no first hand experience with those. But I have sat infront of these in play. They sound great.
Cool.
Srinath.

magma, I believe I know where this driver comes from. These are from Hong Kong. The supplier claims them to be better or at par with Fostex and even Lowthers. He has many more some with Neo magnets.

He even advices cabinet design that match with his drivers.

Quick simulation of the box gave me the following insights.
ATL BS not possible with this driver due to high Vas of this driver as per my design.

Will go well as FS - Height- 34" (with 2.25" spike in the bottom)
Width - 7.5" and Depth-14" (i am considering 18mm mdf board)

The foster 106 has a bamboo cone if I recall. And they modify the cone, after they do it it looks like you put a fork dipped in ink and touched it to the surface. Its a foster 126/108. I used to find threads on diyaudio about it.
Sorry its not exactly a TL cabinet, it needs a folded horn cabinet. Look for Saburo cabinet.

The insanity starts here -
Saburo's Vs. DTB - Page 13 - diyAudio

Enjoy the ride.

Cool.
Srinath.

A quick simulation of the DX55 gave me the following dimensions for an ATL Due to the modest Vas and lower Qts value, it allows ATL BS design.

Height - 16", Width-8.5", Depth-9.25"
